Looking at a beautiful couple of Swams, a boy said they were so calm and beautiful.
“Boy, you just ignored the struggle of their claws paddling underwater”, his father replied.
Hello and welcome to my new critique. I entered my 20s this Sunday, so I thought, let’s have a very important lesson for the 20s.
........The hegemony of Struggle ...........
- Praxis to Happiness.
If I ask you a simple question, What is the reason that Humans are still living on this planet whereas many species are extinct?
The correct explanation would be the "Survival of the fittest" theory of Darwin.
Let's give this Scientific theory a philosophical touch.
The meaning of struggle is- to try very hard for achieving something or to fight for securing yourself (Please Mark these two words Try and Fight).
Today's world is fast rolling, with a lot of competition out there, and tons of hustle-bustle, then in order to preserve yourself here you are left with a few options and Struggle is one of them.
Most of us take this word very negatively and feel that we have to sacrifice a bunch of happy moments etc. But we forget one thing, "Even stars need a dark sky to shine bright". The universe loves equilibrium so if we have happiness then it is OK to struggle, isn’t it? No, it is not OK it is ‘necessary’. It is the struggle that defines the value of Happiness. There is no value of the Sun until winter comes, right?
Now come to those two words Try and Fight. The struggle is a ladder to a ‘Never Give Up’ mindset. We fall, then rise, try again, fight again, fight better, and then fall again but in the end, the damn success is ours. Oh, you haven’t got success, then the only reason is that you still need to fight. Doesn't matter how talented we are, it is always the struggle, the battle, and the effort we put on. Struggle with patience is a fairer lethal weapon to destroy the walls in the path of happiness.
Our ultimate goal in life is to achieve inner stability and peace (which I have discussed in previous newsletters ). Do you think without hard work and struggle you will achieve it? Maybe you have a contradictory answer but if you believe in the working of Karma then Struggle always pays, simple. If we want to achieve success then we have to accept that success always comes with a combo offer with Struggle. The struggle is inevitable, later or sooner it will come, but it relies on us how we perceive it. We can make it a wormhole to happiness or we can just yield.
Okay, ponder over this- why it is the journey that is beautiful and not the destination?
Because the journey needs effort, and patience, while the destination is nothing but the outcome of those efforts blended with patience. The struggle is that journey, a journey with joy to eternal Happiness. I remember a quote from the movie 300 - "The more you practice on the field the less you bleed in battle." Similarly the more you struggle the stronger you become and you will realize all of it in the end. It’s a rule of life and the world.
I want to conclude my views with an example of Usain Bolt, he practiced for 4 years just to run a 9-second 100m race. Then why you are always blaming your life's happenings and seeking an easier way to skip the struggle?
Let’s try a metaphor…
We all know the Water cycle, let’s look at the happiness cycle.
The struggle is an ocean where all the rivers of hard work, patience, perseverance, etc drain their water. Continents are our life. A cloud of water ( happiness ) forms over the ocean with the help of heat( failures ). Clouds are pushed by air( efforts ) and then the happy moments pour down in the form of rain.
Grateful to my friend Ajay for always helping me gather a variety of thoughts on a topic.
